MEETINGS OF STRADBROKE PARISH COUNCIL

3rd & 10th July 2017 and 14th August 2017 (next meeting 11th September 7.30pm Community Centre)

Cllr Last, Cllr Darling and Cllr Gemmill resigned from the Parish Council. Carrie Barnes, Chairman, thanked them for their service at the meeting of 3rd July.

The Parish Council would like to co-opt 3 new members at their September meeting, for details please contact the Clerk.

Planning applications supported:

DC/17/02360 – erection of new pig building. Bullock Hill Farm, IP21 5NG

DC/17/03380 – Change of use from an office to a hair salon (Class A1). The Sudio IP21 5HT

DC/17/04027 – Demolition of existing ancillary building and erection of extension for storage & staff facilities. Roger Skinner Ltd IP21 5HL

DC/17/04056 – Listed Building Consent. Replacement door and window. Cherry Tree Cottage IP21 5JG

Planning applications refused:

1837/17 – Erection of agriculture store building incorporating a straw burner and dryer unit. Barley Brigg Farm IP21 5NQ

Results of planning applications granted by MSDC since the PC last met:

1693/17 – Long Row House, Laxfield Road, IP21 5JT

1453/17 – Mulberry Lodge, Laxfield Road, IP21 5NQ

1000/17 – Hayfield House, Neaves Lane IP21 5JE

1283/17 – Tudor Farm, Battlesea Green, IP21 5NE

Parish Council Updates:

  • The councillors reviewed terms of reference and structure of all committees.

  • Members of the public raised concerns about the amount of closed sessions during Parish Council meetings. Assurance from the Chairman that these will be kept to a minimum in the future.

  • The Chairman noted that it had been a difficult time for Councillors and the Clerk, she hopes that the Parish Council can now move on and work together as a team for the benefit of the whole community.

  • Members of the public expressed their support for the Parish Council and one person was very dismayed at the tone of a letter displayed on a village website and felt it was unprofessional and divisive.

  • Two home owners will be contacted about hedges overgrowing roadway.

  • County Cllr McGregor confirmed the entrance to Depperhaugh Care Home will be looked at and that a consultation on School Transport would start soon.

  • District Cllr Flatman confirmed that locality funding is available (contact Clerk for details). She will be joining Stradbroke on the 8th September to join the activities around the Tour of Britain cycle race.

  • Councillors expressed their thanks to the organisers of Stradisphere with regards to the tidiness of the field after the event.

  • New members have been co-opted onto the Neighbourhood Plan committee, and work continues to produce a plan for Stradbroke to 2036 and beyond.

Parish Council drop in clinic

The council drop in clinics will run on the Tuesday in the week following a Parish Council meeting. Any questions you have regarding Neighbourhood Plan or any other Parish Council business can be passed on at these clinics. The next clinic will be: Tuesday, 19th September at 2.15pm in the Library.

Members of the public and press are very welcome to attend meetings of the Parish Council and to bring matters of concern or information to the attention to Members in the time allocated to the Public Forum.
